Dr. Barbara Draheim holds a PhD in Psychology and is a licensed psychotherapist in California and Nevada. As the Director and Owner of Lake Tahoe Counseling Center for over 40 years, Dr. Draheim has dedicated her career to providing compassionate, evidence-based care to individuals, couples, and families across all stages of life.
In addition to her long-standing private practice, Dr. Draheim served for more than 15 years as the Director of Sierra Family Services, a private, non-profit agency funded by state and federal programs. Her clinical expertise centers on Behavioral Analysis and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, with a strong emphasis on treating anxiety, depression, and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). She is deeply committed to helping adults navigate life’s challenges and achieve meaningful change.
Beyond her clinical work, Dr. Draheim has an extensive background in higher education, having taught at the college level in California, Nevada, and Utah. She has also been actively involved in psychological research, collaborating with the University of Nevada-Reno, Utah State University, and institutions in Wyoming and Idaho. Her passion for advancing the field has led her to conduct research in the South Pacific and consult with universities in Australia. For over 25 years, Dr. Draheim has provided consulting services to the Tahoe Truckee Unified School District, Squaw Valley Academy, Placer County Probation Department, and the Adult and Juvenile Divisions of Placer County. Her wealth of experience and unwavering dedication have earned her the trust of her community and the respect of her professional peers. Dr. Draheim’s approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in proven therapeutic methods. She welcomes new clients seeking support and guidance on their journey toward well-being.
